Looking for a Korean Dol photographer in Maryland, Northern Virginia, or Washington DC?
A Dol (돌) is more than your baby’s first birthday. It is a celebration of a year of growth, love, and all the little moments that brought your family here—surrounded by the people who have loved and supported your child along the way.
Through traditional hanbok, a beautifully styled Dolsang, and the meaningful rituals of Doljanchi, we honor the Korean heritage your child carries with them. These traditions become more than beautiful photographs; they become a way for your child to one day look back and feel proud of where they come from and the family that celebrated them from the very beginning.
Most of all, a Dol celebrates what your family has created together. One healthy, growing child. One unforgettable first year. And a family that has grown right alongside them.
Lavish Photography offers Korean Dol and first birthday photography throughout Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington DC, including studio Dol sessions, in-home celebrations, and full Doljanchi event photography.

I am so happy to have found Lavish Photography to capture our newborn family photo shoot. Dave did an amazing job making our toddler laugh and was incredibly patient and kind through the whole process. Highly recommend, our photos came out amazing!

There are two lovely options. If celebrating the actual 100-day milestone is most important to you, we recommend scheduling close to your baby’s 100th day. If portraits are your priority, we often recommend 120–130 days, when babies typically have stronger head control and are more comfortable posing in hanbok.
When is the best time to schedule a Baek-il session?
We recommend planning your session around your baby’s schedule—not the adults’. The best time is usually after your baby’s first nap, when they’re well-rested, fed, and happiest.
Every baby’s rhythm is different, so we’ll work with you to choose a time when your little one is most likely to be comfortable, alert, and ready for photos.
What time should we schedule our Baek-il session?
Don’t worry—we expect it! We intentionally leave about 30 minutes of buffer time for feeding, soothing, or simply giving your baby a break. Even on fussy days, there are always sweet little moments in between that we can capture.
What if my baby cries or gets fussy during the session?
For studio and in-home sessions, we’re happy to reschedule if your baby becomes ill. Your new date will generally need to be a weekday, although we’ll accommodate a weekend when availability allows.
What if my baby gets sick?
Absolutely!
We photograph in-home Baek-il sessions throughout Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington DC in homes of all sizes. Before your session, we’ll ask for a few photos of your space so we can choose the best areas and plan our lighting ahead of time.
Can we have an in-home Baek-il session if our home is small?
